The Front Royal Town Council seeks to eliminate a requirement in the local charter that town managers live in the corporate limits.

But the council needs the Virginia General Assembly to make that change.

Vice Mayor Amber Veitenthal and council members Melissa DeDomenico-Payne, Joshua Ingram, H. Bruce Rappaport and R. Wayne Sealock voted at their meeting on Monday to approve a request of the state legislature to amend the Town Charter by removing the residency requirement for the town manager. Mayor Lori Cockrell attended the meeting but only votes if there is a tie. The motion directs Town Attorney George Sonnett Jr. and Clerk of Council Tina Presley to send the request to the assembly members who represent Front Royal.
