In an area steeped in history, old houses are quite common.
The old house at 731 Apple Pie Ridge Road in Frederick County, though, is quite uncommon. In the nearly 250 years since it was built, it has remained in the same family. Seven generations have lived there, either full- or part-time, and been responsible for its maintenance.
But that’s about to change. Current residents John and Katie Anderson have decided to sell the home because it isn’t practical for their adult children to continue the family’s ownership for an eighth generation.
“This is really difficult for us,” Katie said this week as a cool summer breeze wafted across the brick house’s front porch. “I want the person who buys this to really love it.”
