LEWES – A family-owned property on Kings Highway near the beaches could soon be redeveloped into a 95-bed independent living community for adults 55 and older.
LIC Housing LLC, owned by Delaware attorneys Kelly and Adam Gelof of Tunnell & Raysor, brought the conditional use proposal to the Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission last week. The parcel is about five acres in Lewes and is located near the Cheer Center and Chapel Green development.
It would feature a mix of apartments featuring up to possibly three bedrooms with rents ranging from $2,500 to $3,750 per month, along with a first-floor restaurant at about 4,000 square feet and fitness center at about 2,165 square feet for use by both residents and the public.
