PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Following a pair of shootings in recent days at Manual High School, the president of the Board of Education at Peoria Public Schools is calling for the board to reconsider installing metal detectors at the district’s three high schools.
Board President Gregory Wilson’s comments came after he and Superintendent Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat praised Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria’s call for men to line up outside Manual to greet students Monday morning.
The board in mid-July decided not to rent weapon detention technology from Evolv , which would include an x-ray system to check bags, and advanced software to detect various kinds of weapons.
