CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Former South Carolina Ports Authority CEO Barbara Melvin will remain as a consultant and receive nearly $823,000 in severance pay following her resignation last week.
According to a separation agreement obtained by counton2.com, Melvin will receive separation payments totaling $822,780 and remain as an SC Ports consultant, when needed, until the end of 2025.
For her consulting services, the ports authority agreed to pay Melvin $350 an hour. Additionally, SC Ports will pay $100,000 to credit her South Carolina retirement account, as stated in the agreement. She can also keep her work iPad, cell phone, and laptop after they are cleaned of all port information.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, Aug. 21, the same day Melvin resigned.
