CHARLESTON — If Hurricane Helene taught us anything, it’s that no matter where you are in the Palmetto State you need to prepare for every storm — be it wind and rain, ice and snow or the flash flooding seen over the weekend in downtown Charleston.
While hurricane preparedness is ingrained in South Carolina’s coastal business owners, many in the Upstate , like Chris Olson, are rethinking their preparation plans to avoid being caught off guard like they were when Helene hit last September.
“Obviously we’re paying much closer attention to the forecasts now,” said Olson, president of Hub City Hospitality in Spartanburg, which operates seven Upstate businesses including Willy Taco, Fr8yard and Flock Shop. “We’ve all been watching Hurricane Erin and which direction it was going.”
