RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man was critically injured Tuesday in an officer-involved shooting in the Ghent area near the West Virginia Turnpike, West Virginia State Police said.

The incident started around 7:20 a.m. when troopers said a toll booth worker called to report a driver going through a toll stop who was on the phone with a woman and having an argument. They reported the man was acting “bizarre and erratic.”

Investigators said that man then got off the highway to stop at a Subway along Odd Road in Ghent. They said he continued acting erratic, and Subway employees called for an officer.

According to WVSP, a trooper arrived when the man brandished a firearm which led to the officer-involved shooting.
