DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) recently concluded its annual back-to-school traffic enforcement initiative aimed at promoting safe driving in school zones.
This year's detail, which ran from August 12 to August 22, resulted in 58 traffic stops across 21 school zones, leading to 47 warnings and 11 citations.
These numbers reflect a decrease from previous years.
"This was our third year doing this detail and it does seem like the additional presence in the school zones and media attention about this detail is helping to get the word out and slow people down, which is what we want to happen," said Daviess County Sheriff Brad Youngman. "Most of the motorists we stopped understood why we were out there and what we were hoping to accomplish."
