SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Kay and Tim from Mad Mouse Zoodio stopped by to showcase Lieutenant Dan, the sheltopusik, or a European legless lizard!

The sheltopusik are indigenous to southern Europe, all the way to central Asia. They are typically around 15 cm long and eat lots of insects. They are also known for hissing to scare away predators or intimidate prey.

"This animal is mostly tail, and 50 to 60 percent of his body is tail," said Time of the Mad House Zoodio. "These are also glass lizards, and they can drop their entire tail if they get scared. It would probably take a few months for it to grow back."

You can follow Mad Mouse Zoodio on Facebook and read about them here.
