PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — School is back in session in Prince George’s County.

This school year will be will the first to have Dr. Shawn Joseph at the helm as interim superintendent , and he said he’s excited to get started.

“The enthusiasm is contagious,” Joseph said Tuesday morning. “I think it’s going to be a great start to what’s going to be a great year.”

However, some students had to wait a little longer to get their year started, because there weren’t enough school bus drivers to go around . The school district said they are 145 drivers short right now, which is about 14% shy of what they need. Meanwhile, data from PGCPS shows teacher staffing sits at around 96% overall.
