ST. PAUL, Minn. (Northern News Now) - About $72 million is heading to Minnesota schools after a lawsuit against the Trump Administration.

Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office announced Tuesday that he secured an agreement requiring the president to release all the remaining education funding no later than Oct. 3.

That comes after Ellison and other states sued over what they called an “unconstitutional decision” to freeze federal funding for six programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

It was a move President Trump hoped would cut down on government spending.

In Minnesota, Ellison says this funding is used for after-school and summer learning, teacher prep, and to support students learning English.
