Maren Morris has shared her lacklustre post-divorce dating experience. The country pop singer told the crowd at an intimate Soho Sessions concert in the Hamptons that she got back out into the dating pool after separating from her former husband Ryan Hurd, but wasn't impressed. "I started dating a little bit and just met some f**king bums that couldn't pay the tab," she said of the inspiration behind the song Too Good. "I brought to my cowriters this idea, and I was like, 'I've been dating a few losers. I think it's just a stroke of bad luck. It's gonna end soon.'" The song includes the lines, "I was always too good for your ass anyway," and "Bed feels bigger and that's all right with me." Morris told the audience - which included Howard and Beth Stern, Jason Biggs, Don Lemon and Bobby Flay - that the new album is inspired by her 2024 divorce from fellow songwriter Ryan Hurd and "it's the aftermath". Morris filed for divorce from singer Hurd in October 2023. "It's a gift I've learned, not just a tragedy," she said of the heartbreak. "I just learned to write through it, whatever I was going through, which is like the point of songwriting." Morris and Hurd married in 2018 and share a five-year-old son.
