WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The parents of a 4-year-old boy injured last year at a Waco daycare have settled their lawsuit with the child care facility and a local church.

Judge Ryan Luna of Waco’s 414th State District Court approved a $40,000 settlement between Jessica and Abelardo Salazar and Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene and Kingdom Kids Daycare and Academy during a hearing Tuesday.

The lawsuit stemmed from an Aug. 30, 2024, incident at the daycare, 2001 N. Valley Mills Drive, in which a teacher forcefully yanked the arm of the Salazars’ 4-year-old son and then dragged him by the arm. The altercation also left a “mark” on the boy’s face, according to a description of the incident provided to the court Tuesday by the Salazars’ attorney, Chris King.
