CLEVELAND (WJW) -- The man accused of leading sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase that ended with a deadly crash in Cleveland was arraigned Thursday after being indicted earlier this week, according to prosecutors.
On Tuesday, a Cuyahoga County grand jury returned an indictment charging 24-year-old Jaymone L. Whitaker II with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, failure to comply, child endangering and OVI.
Thursday, Whitaker pleaded not guilty to the charges and was given a $500,000 bond. His next court date is a pretrial on Sept. 9.
According to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, deputies tried to pull over a vehicle at St. Clair Avenue and East 13th Street at 1:16 a.m. on Sunday.
