SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Commissioner meeting addressed the scarcity of water problem at the Goodfellow Air Force Base.

The base only has 27 months of water remaining, so the Texas A&M Natural Resource Institute requested 1.5 million for a mesquite removal project to help with the issue.

"We’ve cleared brush in this area in the past, and it has been beneficial," said Commissioner Shawn Nanny. "The problem is that we don’t follow up and treat the regrowth. With this program, this will be an annual retreatment of any new growth that comes back and restore the grasslands.
