The Vancouver Asian Film Festival made its debut in the mid-’90s and has been a player in the city’s film scene since. Last year, VAFF screened more than 100 films to thousands of audience members over the course of 10 days in November.
It might never have happened if its founders didn’t have the foresight, in 2005, to establish one of VAFF’s sister programs, the Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon (MAMM). An annual short film competition, MAMM gives emerging filmmakers an opportunity to both hone their craft and build their filmographies.
