SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The former leader of Downtown Sioux Falls wants to be the next mayor of Sioux Falls.

Joe Batcheller says he's ready to be mayor of South Dakota's largest city.

"I know collaboration. I know housing. I know smart growth. I know cities, and I know Sioux Falls," Batcheller said.

The Sioux Falls native announced he's throwing his hat in the ring for mayor this morning.

Batcheller is the former president of the organization Downtown Sioux Falls.

"Downtown Sioux Falls was a scrappy organization. We had sometimes only five employees, limited budget, and we made hay. We did well with what we had. And I'd be really excited to be able to use all the city resources to benefit everyone in Sioux Falls," Batcheller said.
