FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A special event this weekend is paying tribute to the first responders who went beyond the call of duty to save the Shaver Lake community from the devastating Creek Fire.

Shaver Lake Fire Chief Steve McQuillan and Captain Reaves Forest joined Action News Live at Three anchor Vanessa Vasconcelos to talk about the sacrifices and teamwork it took to battle one of the largest fires in state history and how you can help honor that heroism.

The 5-year Creek Fire Commemoration to honor first responders is happening this Saturday, August 30, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Shaver Lake Community Center.

There will be live music, food and beverage vendors, kids' activities and a Silent Auction.
