The U.S. Forest Service has issued a warning advisory about an algal bloom at Panguitch Lake.
"A harmful algal bloom is present at Panguitch Lake," the agency stated in a Facebook post on Monday.
"Algae in the water may be producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick," adding, "Be aware the bloom is also flowing downstream from the dam."
The post also cautions people who are visiting Panguitch Lake to avoid drinking the water and to not go swimming or waterskiing.
Boaters should also know how to recognize harmful algal blooms and avoid them while out on the lake.
Anglers are advised to clean fish thoroughly and to discard skin and guts appropriately.
Pets and animals should be kept away from the reservoir and its outflows, the advisory states.
