SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — According to experts, more than 15% of home purchases nationwide were cancelled in July 2025.

Some reasons behind those cancellations include: high mortgage rates, economic uncertainty, and high interest rates.

"Interest rates continue to drag and make the market slower for sellers," said Jason Geary, realtor for Century 21 Pro Link.

While residents of Siouxland might be concerned about national trends, local realtors report that the market remains healthy here.

"Southern states have had a much greater hit," said realtor for Keller Williams, Aaron Bircher. "Actually, they're seeing home values decline. Our home values are increasing. In the upper Midwest, I'm seeing that there's more stability, more consistency."
