SCHOFIELD BARRACKS (HawaiiNewsNow) - U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii wildland firefighters and soldiers from the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade responded to a brush fire at Schofield Barracks Tuesday.

The fire was reported at the range complex impact area.

Officials said the blaze started during training, and burned approximately 15–20 acres.

It was 10% contained as of 1 p.m.

Smoke may be visible from surrounding communities, but there is no threat to homes, the Army said.

Firefighters are on scene with brush trucks, and helicopters have been requested to support efforts to extinguish the fire, officials said.
