Chicago White Sox rookie Colson Montgomery has been hitting the cover off the ball recently, and the home run barrage helped him make history.
Montgomery, who came into Tuesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals having already hit 13 home runs in just 42 games this season, went yard again in the second inning of the game, hitting a long ball off of Michael Lorenzen.
The home run gives Montgomery at least one long ball in four consecutive games, and according to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs and Baseball Reference’s Stathead tool, it helped him to make White Sox history in the process.
At 23 years and 180 days of age, Montgomery is now the youngest player in White Sox history to have a home run streak of at least four games.
