(FOX40.COM) — Cal Fire launched its new "Set, Go" campaign Monday, reminding residents to be prepared before wildfires ignite.

With peak wildfire season upon us, the "Set, Go" campaign runs from August through October, urging people living in fire-prone areas to create a family wildfire action plan, pack emergency kits, and leave early when wildfires threaten their homes.

Cal Fire Battalion Chief David Acuña said the first step is building a wildfire action plan, complete with escape routes, a safe meeting spot, and an out-of-area contact for family communication.

"It's a one-stop resource that people can prepare themselves and their families," Acuña said.
