HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) and Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) will implement a single-lane closure on the makai-bound travel lane of River Street.

River Street is between Nimitz Highway and North King Street, the closure will begin on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Officials said the closure is necessary to allow crews to safely investigate and assess the condition of the soil and channel wall beneath portions of the sidewalk that have become undermined.

For public safety, the sidewalk along River Street adjacent to Nuʻuanu Stream is already closed and will remain closed until repairs are completed.
