ROCKWALL, Texas — Police are investigating after an infant was found dead in a vehicle parked at Rockwall Heath High School on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Rockwall Police Department, the Heath Department of Public Safety responded to the school’s parking lot around 4:40 p.m. after receiving a report of an unconscious infant in a car.

Police said the child had died after being left in the vehicle for “an undetermined amount of time while parked at a residence in Rockwall.” The child was later discovered when the vehicle was at parked at the school, police said. Additional details were not yet made available.

Rockwall police said they are leading the investigation.
