PRICHARD, Ala. (WKRG) — Carletta Davis’ watch party was full of excitement as she learned the results for the Mayor of Prichard municipal election.

Davis received a total of 951 votes, guaranteeing her a spot in the Sept. 23 runoff.

Incumbent Jimmie Gardener received a total of 635 votes, and Lorenzo Martin received a total of 631 votes.

City clerks in Prichard said the totals for Gardner and Martin are too close to determine who will be in the runoff with Davis.

Davis shared what she plans on doing leading up to the runoff.

"We got to get really laser-focused," Davis said. "I'm gonna continue to build those positions and bring in more and more people into the movement, because that's what this is. We have to change, as we know. I'm gonna create a new movement."
