The Union R-XI School District will attempt to identify a replacement for Superintendent Dr. Mike Mabe without initially using outside sources.

“Unfortunately, Dr. Mabe has notified us that this will be his last year, at the end of his contract, July 1, will be the end of his time here in Union, and we will miss him very much,” Board of Education President Dr. Virgil Weideman said at the Aug.. 20 meeting. “But he’s done us a big favor in giving us a very long lead time, head’s up. So we’ve got time to do things the way we want to do them and find the best person that we can to be the superintendent.” ×
