KAILUA-KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A vehicle was submerged into the water on the westside of the Hawaii Island after the trucks brakes malfunctioned.

A Ford F-150 rolled into Honokohau Harbor just before noon on Tuesday.

Witnesses say the driver was trying to launch his boat into the water when his trucks brakes malfunctioned.

The owner reportedly tried to drive the truck forward but the wheels lost traction on the algae covered ramp and the truck ultimately kept rolling back and sank.

To get it out, Jill Bianchini with Theo’s Towing, who was ready to go to the beach, jumped into action.

She used fins and a diving mask from good samaritans to swim under the truck and hook up the frame to haul it out.
