BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) - Former West Virginia Senator Sarah Minear, who represented Tucker County for more than a decade, has died at the age of 84.
According to an obituary from Hastings Funeral Home, Minear, formerly of Parsons, died Tuesday at Harmony at White Oaks in Bridgeport.
Prior to her service as an elected official, Minear was the founding president of the Tucker Community Foundation, a role she fulfilled from 1988 to 1994. In 1994, voters elected her to the state senate, where she served for 12 years.
Minear was also an active member of numerous community organizations.
A graveside service will be held for Minear on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. at Parsons City Cemetery.
