NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Sticker shock is hitting home for many residents in Nicholasville, but it's not at the grocery store or gas pump. It's showing up in their monthly utility bills.
Growing frustration is boiling over as community members seek answers and change.
Over the last few months, Nicholasville residents like Ryan Cook said their utility bills have nearly doubled.
For Cook, that's even with a well-insulated home and an HVAC unit that's been out of commission for a while.
"With all that said, somehow my bill has gone up from a low of, like, around $200 to $360 this month," said Cook.
As a family of five with small children, he said higher utility costs like this weigh heavily on their wallets.
