LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Fayette County Public Schools employee said she warned her superiors about the district's budget crisis and was placed on administrative leave in response.
The budget battle came to light in May when the district proposed a tax hike to close a $16 million gap in the budget. According to a letter obtained by FOX 56 on Thursday morning, Ann Sampson Grimes, the former executive director of budget and financial planning, claimed she told district leaders numerous times from February 2024 to August 2025 that budget cuts were needed.
She said in the letter that without the cuts, the budget would fail to comply with the school board's police of a 6% contingency.
