(WHTM) — There was an increase in suspected child abuse cases in Pennsylvania in 2024, and some Midstate locations were listed among counties with the highest reports, according to an annual report from Child Protective Services.
The report shows that there were a total of 41,070 reports of suspected child abuse received in 2024, which was nearly 800 more than the previous year. Child Protective Services says the increase was anticipated following the decrease in reports during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While there were increases in some areas, there were also slight decreases in others. The report shows the reports of suspected child abuse that were substantiated decreased from 11.7% in 2023 to 11.6% in 2024.
