After the Nelson County Chamber of Commerce recently informed the county board of supervisors it cannot continue to fund Christmas lights in the Lovingston, Schuyler and Nellsyford, the board is looking to find ways to move the holiday tradition forward this year and in the future.
Elaine Hooker, an officer of the chamber’s board of directors, recently wrote in a letter to county supervisors the organization spearheaded projects in the 1980s where residents purchased Christmas decorations for the villages of Lovingston and Shipman. Hooker wrote it was a good run but the chamber’s board of directors agreed the organization does not have the money to keep doing the lights and has requested lighting the three Nelson communities moving forward be turned over to the county or
