LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — It has been 19 years since Comair Flight 5191 crashed at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington.
After the plane was cleared for takeoff, it traveled down the wrong runway. All 47 passengers, as well as two crew members, were killed on Aug. 27, 2006.
FOX 56 previously reported that the youngest person aboard the plane was just 16 years old, and the oldest was 72.
"Today marks 19 years since Comair Flight 5191 crashed at the Blue Grass Airport. August 27 will always be a somber day, and our thoughts are with the victims' families, friends, and all those who responded to the crash site," the Lexington Police Department wrote on Facebook Wednesday morning.
