LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Fayette County Board of Education has called a special meeting to continue discussion on the district’s 2025-26 budget.
The meeting will be virtual on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. It will be livestreamed on the FCPS YouTube channel, and the public may watch in person on screens at the John D. Price Administration Building.
This announcement comes just days after FCPS Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins was scheduled to receive a final total for the district’s true contingency on August 25, according to an email he sent to board members earlier this month.
The FCPS Budget Solutions Work Group ranked reducing the district’s contingency as their top two solutions to address the projected $16 million deficit in next year’s budget.
