JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – The passenger of a vehicle involved in an Aug. 22 crash on Johns Island was found days later, according to law enforcement officials.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office responded to Fickling Hill Road around 7 p.m. that evening for reports of a crash.

While investigating the accident, the driver told an on-scene deputy that there was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputies searched the surrounding area and further questioned the driver, who then stated they “were the sole occupant,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Just days after the crash, the agency’s traffic unit and forensic services unit went to the crash site Monday after a resident found a body while walking their property.
