MOUNT CLARE, W.Va. (WV News) — The West Virginia Association of Conservation Districts' West Virginia Century Farm Program recognizes families who have farmed the same land for at least 100 years.

To qualify, a family must have owned the land for a minimum of 100 years for a Century Farm, 150 years for a Sesquicentennial Farm, or 200 years for a Bicentennial Farm. The farm must also be at least 10 acres of the original land, gross at least $1,000 annually from farm products, and a family member must live on or be an integral part of the daily operation.

Ownership can be passed through wives, husbands, children, brothers, sisters, nephews, or nieces.

Farms chosen for the program in the West Fork Conservation District will get an outdoor sign and be recognized at the annual awards banquet
