WALKER, Minn. — One person is dead after a boat crashed into the rocks and shoreline on the south shore of Leech Lake near Walker City Park, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

After receiving reports of a crashed boat at 1:25 p.m. on August 26, deputies and responders arrived on scene to find a 2016 Regency Tri-toon, crashed on the shore.

A female, age 59, of Cass Lake, MN was located in the watercraft unresponsive.

She was removed from the watercraft and received lifesaving measures while being transported to the Walker airport where she was pronounced deceased.

The female operator was the only occupant of the watercraft at the time of the incident.
