NEWTON, Mass. —
Newton city workers are back in the Nonantum neighborhood to wash a colorful marker of Italian heritage from Adams Street for the second time.
Crews were seen power washing the colors and revealing the standard double yellow lines underneath on Wednesday morning. Protestors gathered in the middle of the street in front of DPW crews and police repeatedly urged the group to move. Latest Forecast

Eventually, the group did move to the sidewalk and NewsCenter 5 witnessed no arrests.
The green, white and red center line paint markings were a long-time feature of Adams Street, where the colors of the Italian flag have long marked the route of the St. Mary of Carmen Festival—known as Festa.
