DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - The National Weather Service in Green Bay confirmed on Wednesday that a very brief, weak tornado struck Peninsula State Park in Door County back on August 9.

This latest report brings the statewide total number of tornadoes up to 38 this year. The average number of tornadoes in Wisconsin is 23.

The NWS said Door County Emergency Management supported a damage survey with photos and on-site analysis. The damage was consistent with an EF-0 tornado, with the most significant damage being an uprooted tree.

The NWS said the tornado crossed into Eagle Harbor as a waterspout. The NWS cited numerous public reports of a waterspout in that area.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.
