It’s been a tumultuous few years for Rainbow Kitten Surprise and its lead singer, Ela Melo.

After forming in 2013 in a dorm room in North Carolina, the five-piece rose to immense popularity, playing major festivals and racking up hundreds of millions of streams with songs like “First Class”, “Devil Like Me”, “Cocaine Jesus”, and “It’s Called: Freefall”. The latter track became a bonafide mainstream hit, earning certified double platinum status in Canada and even getting a needle drop on Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia .
