LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is suspending construction work and lifting traffic restrictions wherever possible for the Labor Day holiday weekend.
MDOT said that beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, the department will be suspending 100 of the 164 currently active road work projects in the state. The suspension will continue through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Drivers should still be aware that construction equipment and certain traffic configurations may remain in place throughout the holiday weekend.
MDOT said they are suspending work where they can to ease traffic delays for drivers and improve safety for both workers and drivers.
"We thank all drivers for their continued patience while much-needed road and bridge work occurs across the state.
