A local company is holding a film festival in Erie.
Rhoxon Productions is hosting the Lake Effect Film Festival at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center from September 11 through September 13.
Filmmakers across multiple genres will be showing their films, which will be eligible for the Lake Effect Film Awards.
The goal of the festival is to “encourage creatives to be themselves,” said Georgie Capotis, the head of fundraising for Rhoxon Productions.
She said that despite being a small city, Erie is growing in the film industry. “We’re watching people really promote the growth of young filmmakers and bringing somewhere new to the industry that’s not LA and New York,” Capotis said.
The festival will have food vendors and wine from Mazza Vineyards, Capotis said.
