KENT, Wash. — Students at Mill Creek Middle School will have new instruments this year thanks to a $42,231 grant from the Morgan Wallen Foundation.

The money will be used for high-quality instruments, a digital piano for classes, and instrument accessories like reeds and bows.

“This will allow students to stop sharing instruments and finally have what they need to practice at home and at school,” said Band and Choir Director Melia McNatt in a release . “We’ll be able to set kids up for success every day.”

"We're using instruments that are 60 years old, " said Mill Creek Principal and cellist Matt Fitney. "The ability to make sure that every kid has access to a cello if they want to play a cello or a violin if they want to play a violin is phenomenal."
