KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On Friday, Aug. 15, the Sex Offender Registration and Enforcement Unit of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office conducted a back-to-school sex offender compliance operation.

Deputies conducted address verifications at the last known residences of multiple registered offenders in zip codes 64127, 64128 and 64130. As a result of this initiative, 27 offenders were found to be noncompliant.

"Each year we see many important back-to-school events that provide backpacks and school supplies for our children, and those efforts are truly commendable," Sheriff Darryl Forté said.
