BEDFORD — The City of Bedford is reminding residents of the procedures for its upcoming vacuum leaf collection season, which begins Oct. 6.

According to a public notice, the vacuum service will run through approximately Nov. 28, or even into late December if needed. Pickups will occur on residents’ designated trash day each week.

Residents are advised that leaves to be picked up by the vacuum service cannot be bagged. Instead, they should be raked into a pile within 3 feet of the curb on the lawn, not in the street. The notice warns that leaves piled in the roadway can clog storm drains.

From Oct. 6 to Oct. 31, residents must call 812-279-9222 to schedule a pickup for leaves in their alleys.
