A 34-year old Centralia man died Tuesday night in Audrain County after his car hit a Freightliner truck.

According to a news release form the Mexico Public Safety Department, the crash occurred around approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the 1500 block of W. Monroe along Missouri Highway 22.

Authorities discovered that the Centralia man who was driving the 2006 Ford passenger car eastbound, cross the centerline and struck a Freightliner truck pulling a trailer. The Centralia man was pronounced dead at the scene and the Mexico man driving the Freightliner was uninjured.

Traffic was slowed until the area was cleaned until approximately 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the release. The crash is still under investigation.
