KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Visitors and tourists spent over $2.1 billion in Knox County in 2024, a 4.34% increase from 2023.
This spending brought in about $135 million in state taxes as well as $79 million in local taxes, according to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. This saved county residents about $1,084 per household, TDTD estimated.
"Knoxville has such a great mix between sporting events, to conventions and other events, to film projects, and then, we're on the map as a premier getaway destination," said Visit Knoxville President Kim Bumpas.
She said that she was very grateful for these numbers especially since travel has started to soften or slow in certain communities.
