GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Gainesville Regional Airport revealed its new parking garage and intermodal transportation center at a ribbon cut ceremony Wednesday morning.

The new four-floor, 418-space parking garage will officially open to the public next week, but staff and members of the community celebrated the completion of the $13 million dollar structure at a grand opening ceremony.

Along with parking spots, the garage will provide 16 electric vehicle charging stations and a waiting space for city bus, Uber, Lyft, and taxicabs riders.

The garage is located near the terminal with three covered stories and a covered walkway for shelter from weather.

Airport leaders say this will result in less curb congestion during busy flight times and improve safety.
