LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A Jackson County man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Tae'sean Bartkowiak.

The shooting happened on June 4 in Blackman Township. Officers arrived to find Bartkowiak unresponsive but breathing with a gunshot to the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he was in critical condition as of June 6. He died later that month.

Police initially arrested 22-year-old Julian Powell on charges related to the shooting. He was not publicly named at the time of his arrest. Prosecutors have now charged Powell with second-degree murder.
